Competitive salary band $122,414 - $183,621 per annum 

We’re pleased to support Greater Wellington Regional Council in their search for a Ticketing Operations Lead – Kaiwhakahaere Rauemi tīkiti, Metlink.

About the role:

It’s an exciting time to be in public transport, with a clear government mandate for public transport to deliver economic, social and environment benefits including addressing climate change. The Ticketing Operations Lead will be the focal point for the day to day operations of fares and ticketing on the Metlink Network.  The role will have highly visible outcomes that will become as integral part of how everyone catches and pays for public transport.   The Ticketing Operations Lead combines aspects of contract management, project leadership, commercial negotiations and performance management. Responsibilities will include an active participation in one of Greater Wellington’s most significant public transport offerings in recent years.

You will ultimately be responsible for the ongoing commercial and strategic relationships with Snapper and the National Ticketing Solution (NTS) provider Cubic. The NTS is a nationally significant project led by Waka Kotahi that will require considerable strategic and transition planning.  You will ensure robust processes and day to day management systems in place to ensure a smooth transition as well as ensuring Greater Wellington fare revenues in excess of $100m p.a.  are maintained.

In your role as Ticketing Operations Lead you will help align and prioritise Metlink activities for your existing team (finance, data management, operations, procurement etc), while also being ultimately responsible for the performance of the ticketing provider. 
  

You will have strong contract management skills including sound judgement to help navigate complexity and risk. You’ll likely have significant experience in successful project delivery and managing performance / KPIs.  You will like seeing the ‘big picture’ but also come with a sound ability to identify future opportunities, risks and roadblock and manage teams to assess and resolve those problems. Your ability to quickly overcome a variety of challenges, including influencing others, will be the key to the success of your role.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • Demonstrated project and contract management in a change environment
  • Proven experience managing performance and setting performance goals / KPIs
  • Proven experience managing multiple diverse teams / stakeholders in a high pressure and/or political environment
  • Significant experience in presenting complex information to senior leaders or politicians in a compelling manner
  • A demonstrated experience in building strategic relationships
  • Ability to manage work programmes in appropriate timeframes and budgets
  • Experience in implementing new technologies and systems advantageous.
