About the company:
My client is a well-established, well respected and very professional Chartered Accounting Firm. They provide a range of services to SME clients including business structuring and tax planning, annual financial statement and tax return preparation, management accounting, cash-flow forecasting, and business advisory.
About the role:
As a BAS Manager in our Business Advisory team, you will be responsible for managing the accounting and advisory needs of a significant client portfolio made up of a range of privately owned small to medium trading entities and family groups. In your role you will do a mix of advisory, accounting compliance, and team coaching.
Duties:
- Preparation and review of financial statements, tax returns and cash flow forecasts, structuring and tax planning, tax administration.
- Regular client discussions, involvement in structuring, tax planning, IRD debt remissions, and other ad hoc business advisory projects.
- Responsible for reviewing junior team members work, managing their workflow and providing the team with guidance and coaching.
- Client relationship management for clients under your portfolio.
- Business development.
Skills and experience:
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant with 5+ years New Zealand public practice experience.
- Ideally with at least one year of experience as a BAS Manager.
- Have strong technical skills, demonstrated tax knowledge and an appetite for self-research and problem solving in relation to complex tax matters and business scenarios.
- Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Demonstrate an ability to form strong relationships and an ability to share your knowledge.
- Have experience in managing a portfolio, as well as some experience in leading and coaching team members.
- Proficient use of MYOB Business, Xero and Excel is mandatory.
