We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to join our Networks Team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of driving the strategic roadmap for network services, working closely with Product Management, multiple council-controlled organisations (CCOs), and key external partners. With our network services fully outsourced, this position requires strong vendor oversight and stakeholder engagement to ensure seamless delivery, value for money, and alignment with the council’s broader objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and communication of the product roadmap for network services in line with strategic business goals
- Manage and prioritise the product backlog, translating high-level initiatives into actionable features and user stories.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and CCOs, serving as the key contact for all network-related initiatives.
- Oversee external network service providers, ensuring performance, risk mitigation, and alignment with agreed SLAs and business priorities.
- Collaborate with technical teams, engineers, and architects to ensure solutions align with best practices, technical standards, and security requirements.
- Drive and support issue resolution, acting as a point of escalation for critical network incidents.
- Promote continuous improvement by leveraging performance metrics and stakeholder feedback to optimise delivery.
- Stay up to date with emerging network technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, 5G, cloud networking) and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and audit requirements, contributing to a secure and robust network environment.
- Support the development of business cases and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
- 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner or Product Management role, with a strong focus on network services or IT infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing outsourced vendors and navigating complex stakeholder ecosystems.
- Solid technical understanding of network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, security, etc.).
- Familiar with Agile or Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
