The role includes overseeing negotiations between employers and employees, managing disputes, and ensuring that the company’s policies comply with regulations. They work closely with trade unions, employee representatives, and other stakeholders to negotiate contracts, mediate disputes, and implement policies to promote a positive work environment.
There will be a strong focus on employee engagement and satisfaction.
The successful person will play a key role in maintaining steady relationships between management and employees
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the contact for all enquiries regarding performance of employees and complaints, incidents.
- Provide relevant and pragmatic advice
- Lead all performance management processes
- Assist with the management of collective bargaining negotiations
- Manage interactions with unions and relationships
- Handle employee grievances and disciplinary procedures
- Conduct investigations into workplace issues and provide recommendations
- Monitor industrial disputes, strikes and other work stoppages and prevent /mitigate impact
- Provide support to the HR team
- Educate Managers
- Administration and reporting
- 4 years minimum experience
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment laws, collective bargaining processes
- Best practice employee relations
- Expertise in handling employee disputes, grievances and conflict resolution
- Manufacturing or industrial environment experience
- Experience dealing with Trade Unions and employee reps
- Work closely with HR, management, employees and unions
- Good familiarity with dispute resolution mechanisms- arbitration/mediation
