The Role
In this influential role, you will report directly to the Group Financial Controller. You will oversee key financial operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external standards while delivering timely financial reporting, management insights, and operational analysis.
This is far from a traditional accounting position. While responsibilities like month-end reporting and preparing reporting packs are part of the role, it also involves playing a strategic part in decision-making and acting as a trusted finance partner to the wider organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end and year-end results, along with general ledger management.
Managing a staff of transactional accountants, providing leadership, mentorship and ensuring high-performance standards.
Lead budgeting and forecasting processes.
Oversee treasury functions.
Drive system improvements and strengthen internal controls.
Provide actionable insights and financial advice to enhance company performance.
Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external parties such as auditors.
About You
You are a proactive professional with strong financial acumen, ready to combine strategic thinking with hands-on involvement. Your commercial mindset, leadership capabilities, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will ensure success in this role.
To excel, you’ll bring:
A professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA/CIMA).
Extensive New Zealand-based experience in senior financial and management accounting roles.
A proven track record of leading finance teams across transactional and strategic functions.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, present effectively, and manage relationships with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
Experience in industries such as FMCG, Manufacturing, Retail, or Distribution is advantageous.
Technical expertise in D365 and Power BI.
A commitment to working onsite to foster collaboration and drive results.
